31. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are...
David ,   Hartford USA   (03.08.14)
Sorry for the inconvenience caused by Muslim psychopaths. You want EL AL to stop with their profiling? Are you insane? Planes would be blowing up every day. Let's face it; it's not 80 year old Caucasian grandmothers trying to blow up planes, it's 18 - 40 year old Muslims, men and women, who are trying to do it. You bet it's profiling- and I'm glad they do it. But for what it's worth, I was pulled out of line for two hours and held in that 'special area' while they checked me out. And I'm a Jewish, white, 50 year old American male. But my name made it on their 'suspicious passenger list' and so I was interrogated for a few hours while they checked whatever they check. I figure it's part of visiting Israel. Sure, it was an inconvenience, my in-laws were waiting outside for two hours. Visiting Israel is always interesting! (I wonder if they pulled me aside because I write these talkbacks so often and quite often criticize Bibi and crew??)
32.  IN A PERFECT WORLD
MR IDEALISTIC ,   SAFED ROMANCE HOUSE   (03.08.14)
In a perfect world , mankind would live in love ,peace and harmony and there would be no war and no terror . And there would simply be no need for airline security anywhere. I have also been subject to questioning or interviewing at Tel-avivs' Ben-Gurion airport. Was it particularly pleasant ? no it was not .Was it terrible ? No it was certainly not. Was it a terrible experience ? No it certainly was not . I strongly suspect that the interrogation or interviewing of passengers is not intended nor designed to pleasant or comfortable enjoyable. The whole point is to make a potential trouble maker or terrorist feel exposed ,nervous and uncomfortable. And Israel must spend billions and billions of shekels securing airlines. Regarding Journalists ,including Sky News executives and journalists , they are nothing special .Not at all. They may imagine that they walk on water but they do not.
33. DISCOMFORT IS A SMALL PRICE
CONFUCIUS ,   SAFED CHINA   (03.08.14)
A few minutes ,or moments of discomfort is a small price to pay for having your lives secured. And Israel pays a huge price ,billions of shekels to make its passengers safe.
34. Facts d
Conroy ,   Toronto   (03.08.14)
I have always been aware of Israel's questionable and controversial security methods as described in this article and talkbacks. But when considering Israel's extreme security situation and the fact that BGU airport and EL AL has not have any major terrorist incident since the early 70s and with 20 million travellers passing through every year, such measures obviously are needed - and they work!
35. Security is a farce
Peter ,   Jerusalem   (03.08.14)
Screening just a fraction of all travelers, less than 2% most likely, just humiliates them and lets the rest to slip by. Unless everyone is screened its just a kabuki theater.
36. @25 I am a survivor of Arab Terrorism,
#9   (03.08.14)
I have traveled on an Israeli Diplomatic Passport since 1989. So much for your theory ha!
37. HOW ABOUT SHOWING GRATITUDE?
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (03.08.14)
Some gratitude towards the fine young ,and not so young ,men and women who protect our lives at Ben-gurion Airport each and every day , is long overdue. These people have saved countless lives and they take it in their stride. We owe them a huge THANK YOU.
38. CONFUCIUS SAYS : THE ROAD TO
CONFUCIUS ,   SAFED CHINA   (03.08.14)
" The road to hell ,and terror ,is paved with good intentions " ....(mainly from do-gooders and liberals.)
39. I WILL TELL YOU A SECRET
SIGMUND FREUND ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (03.08.14)
It is obvious to me that the whole purpose of interviewing us at airports is to make us ,and any potential Terrorist feel UMCOMFORTABLE , in fact the more cuncomfortable the better and more effective the screening. Why is this so ? simply because any Terrorist would sweat profusely and give the game away and panic and be unable to carry out his/ her dastardly plan. Rather ,we should all thank the security personnel at Ben-Gurion from the bottom of our hearts.
40. SECURITY : THE FACTS
MR IMPARTIAL ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (03.08.14)
Airport security at Ben-Gurion is not designed to be nice nor pleasurable .It is designed to be effective....and it is very effective.
41. " UNDYING " gratitude .
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (03.08.14)
Israeli security personnel always deserve our "UNDYING " gratitude . Why " UNDYING " ??? Simply because of their deeds ,we are indeed " UNDYING ."
42.  ADVICE FOR TRAVELLERS :
SIGMUND FREUND ,   PSYCHOLOGY, SAFED   (03.08.14)
Do not take it personally . After all ,security staff must interview countless passengers each day. Unless you have come to cause trouble ,in which case it may be personal.
43. ONE CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED   (03.08.14)
Being asked intrusive questions at an airport is not exactly what I would describe as fun , but I am nevertheless grateful that my life is being secured. A necessary evil. I know better than to take offence or to take it personally . In fact ,airport security personnel have my eternal respect and gratitude.
44. Stupid article that keeps returning to the "pages" from time
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.08.14)
to time. The way things are going in the good, old Europe: soon we'll have to profile beautiful, tall, blonde Scandinavians & Germans & other assorted righteous sympathisers with the "Palestinian" cause! They may take to blowing themselves up, who knows? Americans have voted a "Hussein" into office only 7 years after 9/11. Europe is much more of a "goner"....World is such a strange place & it's getting sucher and sucher....

49. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear
Joe Fraser ,   Canada   (03.08.14)
I would rather be delayed and safe. Anyone who doesn't understand this at BGU is just dense, or is trying to hide something
50. DEBATE THIS:SEPTEMBER 11,2001
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (03.08.14)
Those of you who have continued airline travel since The Event, are alive today thanks to countless Airport Security provisions that have been effected after The Event.
51. FLYING TO IRELAND AND ISRAEL
DANNY.TAWIL ,   ENGLAND   (03.08.14)
FLYING FROM MANCHESTER AIRPORT, WE WERE GOING TO ISRAEL AND BYTHE WAY THIS IS A LONG TIME AGO, THEIR WAS A FELLOW FROM IRELAND A COFFEE SALESMAN, WHO USE TO TRAVEL TO IRELAND REGURLY, AND HE WAS IN FRONT OF ME IN THE QUE, HE SAID ALL THIS SECURITY IS CRAZY, HE WAS A BIG FELLOW, AND I CALLED HIM STUPID, I WAS WISHING HE WOULD HAVE HIT ME, THEIR WERE 2 POLICEMEN STANDING RIGHT NEAR HIM WITH OUTOMATIC WEAPONS, THE SECURITY GIRL WHO WAS ISRAELI SAID HE TRAVELS EVERY WEEK TO IRELAND, OH BOY WE WILL GIVE HIM A HARD TIME, NEXT WEEK, THAT WAS A TIME OF THE IRA AT ITS HEIGHT, IF YOU DONT WANT . TO GET BLOWN UP SORRY YOU HAVE TO COMPLY.
52. Ben Gurion Security
Alan ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (03.08.14)
Just who gets through the airport scot free after their highway robbery and ocean piracy? The accompanying photo says it all.
53. Whatever it takes
Avi Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.08.14)
Whenever I see an AP ('Anonymous Press') article clearly looking to put the screws on Israel's image, I know it was funded by those who don't exactly wish the Jewish State well. The Left like to view our security tactics as 'racial profiling' but in the end, it's all about statistics. The fact is that a 23 year old Muslim male from Pakistan who visited Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Afghanistan in the last two years is more likely to be involved in terrorism than a 23 year old Canadian Jewish female who came to Israel on the Taglit program. Imagine what would happen to insurance companies if actuaries based their analysis on random inputs rather than targeted statistics? My message to ALL security organizations tasked to keep airports and airplanes safe: Do whatever it takes to get the job done successful because failure is not an option.
54. Entire world pays for Jews invading Palestine, time, money
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.08.14)
55. #2-do Israel a favor...don't visit again.
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (03.08.14)
56. To me, the only debate is why rude personnel is hired @ BGA?
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.08.14)
Actually, I think the current personnel is better than previously, so someone is paying attention to complaints. Still, a long way to go for the Ben Gurion airport. Workers there are barely beginning to understand the meaning of "customer service" and that the customer is king. More cultural behavior training is needed and carried on as long as necessary until it penetrates the instincts.
57. #9 not an iota of truth
Zoe ,   Rishon Lezion,Israel   (03.08.14)
I hold dual Us Israeli citizenships, arrived in Ben Gurion 2 weeks ago and didn't present my US passport, get a life
58. Keep up the the good work guys, they

59. Anyone who thinks that all the religions & all the peoples &
Moshe ,   Usa   (03.08.14)
all the nations are equal in their moral & ethical nature should read more history & if they have not changed their mind, they should amputate their brains & donate their body parts to those in need who may be more worthy. I am so tire of stupid liberals.
60. Thank you.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (03.08.14)
I want to personally thank everyone who works in security at Ben Gurion airport. Thanks for a great job, well done.
