1. 'Subbota means Shabbat in Russian'
split ,   US   (03.12.14)
Wrong, Shabbat means a day of rest while Subbota is the translation for Saturday, a day like any other day in a week. Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian Churches observe Sunday as holy day, designated for rest ,...

über frummies who believe that god only spoke to them at Mt Sinai. According to their gospel, Moshe Rabbenu was bearing a shtreimel and bekeshe at the time. Funny I don't remember Charlton Heston wearing one in the 10 commandments. Well then what do I know?
3. Sobota
Shimon ,   Poleg   (03.12.14)
Sobota is saturday in Polish sabado in spanish, shabbat in Hebrew Yom As Sabat in Arabic it's the same in many languages. This is a Linguistic thing calm down it's nothing to do with religion. Christians observe sunday as their sabbath and I wish them all the best each to his own!

You seem to be quite ignorant. Subotniks are converts and as such they ARE Jews. A lot of them have lived in Israel for over 50 years . They have greatly contributed to the building of this Country...They are most welcome here !!!!
10.  Assimilate Baby Assimilate!

Another ethnic minority in Israel is good. The more real Jews (whatever that is) intermarry with 'maybe Jews', non-orthodox Jews, crypto-Christians, real Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Taoists, atheists, Asians, Arabs, blacks, browns, yellows, reds etc, etc the less paranoid and xenophobic the tribe will be. And maybe this dilution of the tribe will breed out some of the cultural narcissism many Jews seem to be afflicted with.
11. Was Sharon's mother really a subbotnik?
(03.13.14)
I've heard of this before, but never really saw it mentioned. Anyone have any good sources on the subject?

One stone age black hatted freak can prevent government to allow some 15,000 to 20,000 Jews to join other Jews in Israel and you call yourself democracy and the light unto the nations? Beam me up Scotty all the way dude this is a real good one ;) ,...
14. they are not Jewish
Gerry ,   Los Angeles, USA   (03.13.14)
In the early 1900's there were a number of Subotnik immigrants in Los Angeles. They had their own church untill sometime in the 1960's. They lived in Boyle Height near other Russian immigrants including Jews and Molokans. It is documented that they followed some Jewish ritual, but also adhered to the New Testament. They were more closely associated with Molokan Christrians with whom many intermarried than with Jews. They are definitely 100% historically and in practice goyim and should not be considered Jewish without converting.

The origin of the word Shabbat is from lasevet meaning to sit. The Russian word for Saturday is Subota comes from the Hebrew world Shabat. Subotniks had the day off on Saturday, therefore their name means the followers of Shabbat Subota. Just stay away from anything Jewish you pinhead. To read the Mein Kampf is more suitable for you, if you can comprehend it at all with your low I.Q., even if it is written for those with low I.Q.
17. No evidence Sharon's mother was a subbotnik
(05.15.15)
Where do they get that Sharon's mother was Subbotnik? First of all, she was from a non-subbotnik area (Mogilev). Then, her surname Schneierov isn't a subbotnik name. Schneier is an Ashkenazi first name. Subbotniks wouldn't have used it. This rumor likely started for 2 reasons. One, because his mother's surname ends in a Russian suffix and she went by her secular name in Russia (Vera). Two, some haredim decided to spread the rumor she was a shiksa in order to invalidate Sharon.
