It's not funny. Find these kids and make them do 200 hours of community service -- helping Holocaust survivors. They should not be permitted to graduate from high school if they have not performed this community service. Do you think they realize that what gets posted to the Internet is forever? And that a few years down the road, a prospective employer will be checking social media? No one wants to hire a callous, insensitive jackass. Their parents share some of the blame.

to young to grasp what really happened to the Jews of Europe. They should not have gone on this sort of trip--they should not have gone to any European country as a group--they only will show Israel in a bad light. No more group sponsored trips.Let them stay home and work.
5. Just teens being teens

At that age, they are the walking epitome of irreverent & indifferent.

You can stone them too using the Sharia Law. I sure you don't know what freedom of speech is all about. You have very dirty heart and try to ask Dick Cheney how to replace it.
7. Auschwitz: "a field trip abroad"
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (06.24.14)
"and not a meaningful experience." When I saw the headline, I expected these kids to be anti-Semitic gentiles of whatever nation; but they are ISRAELI CITIZENS??? And then some adult yo-yo blabbers that was a "field trip???" Israel: vu bist du?

I have news for you -- freedom of expression does not extend to hate speech or harmful speech. There are Holocaust survivors still alive -- and that number dwindles with each passing day -- and there are people such as myself, whose parents were concentration camp survivors. There is nothing funny about the Holocaust; there is nothing at all amusing about the experiences of those who survived the Holocaust. That is why I think that the shameless idiots who believe their "selfies" from a concentration camp are "cute" or "funny" would benefit from community service spent with Holocaust survivors. Still waiting for you to explain what YOU characterized as YOUR "personal experience" and YOUR "first-hand knowledge" of a United States airlift of Iraqi Jews to Israel in 1948. Because there never was any such airlift, so your "first-hand knowledge" and "personal experience" ought to be -- how shall I say this -- enlightening. Illuminating, in fact. So, please, tell us, do. Exercise your inalienable right to free expression. Even a moron such as yourself enjoys that right, so better make hay while the sun shines, sluggo.

Jewish teens should know better. Funny, I've never seen or heard of any black teenagers making fun of lynchings. Have you? Certain things, Cameron, do go beyond the pale. If I may draw upon your heritage a bit: think of all the Irish people who starved to death during the years of potato crop failures. Is it in any way, shape or form a subject worthy of humor? On one of my trips to Ireland, I took a few walking tours in villages in several counties. Visited a lot of country parishes and church graveyards. Do you have any idea how many of the gravestones speak of the deaths of children, especially between the years 1845 and 1852? Thousands. And those are the ones who received a Christian burial and a grave marker; not an unmarked mass grave. There are records of three such mass graves in County Mayo alone; each said to hold at least 5,000 bodies. Death by starvation and disease is not funny. Lynchings in the American post-Civil War South are not funny. And the Holocaust is not funny.

Chill, fierce one. Spare me the outraged posturing. Again, these are teens. Be realistic as to the honest weight and impact of history upon that lot in that age range.
13. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & other 'social' media
tiki ,   belgium   (06.25.14)
A real blessing for future generations social life & educational capacities. People have become slaves of their selfie's and live in solitary confinement to be with their 50000 'friends', desperate to talk to someone in what has become a dying skill........socializing & debating with real people, laughing & crying with "friends from flesh & blood. So don't blame these ignorant idiots for their understanding of 'fun, for we have educated them like that and they don't know anything else! We've created a 'social' monster which will destroy us in the end!

Well, you're half right. Outraged -- yes. Posturing -- no. Some kids end up with nothing. And some go to the Ivy leagues. But you know what? If you never develop a moral compass in your youth -- you'll never have one. That's why terrorists are terrorists. They just don't know any better. Evidently, neither do you.
15. parents and teachers
chaya ,   central israel   (06.25.14)
are partly to blame . The holocaust does not talk to each and every Israeli (does it has something to do with one's origin?). My daughter went and when the school showed us the film of their activities I for one was moved to tears just like the students on film. The kids also were shown having fun laughing and dancing but in the right places. I did not see selfie pictures on my daughter's phone!! These insensitive has either set in due to the lack of preparation before the trip or ignorance of what the holocaust is to the jewish people. So sad

No Arne, these kids are not too young to grasp what really happened. They have been taught at school, they have see documentaries about the Holocaust. They lack respect, decency & morals. I hold their parents responsible for their vulgar actions.
17. Teens being teens? What?
Jo ,   Warsaw, Poland   (06.25.14)
1. Funny thing, this article mentions "Poland", "nazi" and "death camps" multiple times, sometimes in one sentence, but never uses G-word. Is it considered ugly or what? Polish people've had enough of this. 2. I don't think it's an appropriate behaviour for any teenagers. I've been to Auschwitz when I was 15, we went there during Polish-German student exchange and nobody behaved like this. Polish side observed German kids closely, they were pale, some girls were crying and we were sick. Definitely no selfies.

A NYC lawyer presuming to lecture me about having an intact moral compass? For real? Now it's my turn to be truly outraged. Unlike YOU, mine is not for purchase, nor to be placed on a high shelf at times deemed convenient.
