The United States has no federal ban on gay conversion therapy. The US system wouldn't even allow such a law if it were proposed. The very left wing states have banned it for children (not adults) while 48 fully allow it. German's decision is purely political not based on science. Yes therapy doesn't always work on this issue just as it doesn't always work on many other issues. In terms of a gay group that says it hasn't worked for its members. Well of course it hasn't if the therapy succeeded and someone stops beng gay they obviously don't join gay activist organizations.

It is very difficult to go against the popular culture, especially when the pop culture is determined to believe a lie.
