He was a crook he stole this jeans idea from his costumer (Latvian) tailor J. Davis and submitted for patent at Davis' request where he (Strauss) was suppose to be named as co-inventor as a reward for taking care of patent application cost which he submitted but accidentally forgot to include Davis' name on ,... The rest is history ,...

Here in London the influx of Jewish tailors from Eastern Europe helped lower the cost of men's suits etc and most men could afford to dress better. In the USA, of course, Levis became an icon for the young and was affordable. Levis revolutionised American youth design, and was sought after world-wide.

the tenzer dress shown in the article is a vision of beauty. my grandfather was a tailor from lithuania, who came to the usa before the shoah, and opened his shop a few blocks from. the white house. he was a religious jew and a wonderful man. a success story, for sure.
