1. GUIDELINES? Really?
ayatollah ghilmeini   (01.26.15)
BBC guidelines must also call for Israel to be accused of war crimes even when the dead were killed by Hamas and then there is the guideline that prevents any non-PC /antiIsrael (and certainly never a pro-Israel) position from ever being presented- that is just the English language broadcast; the arabic version is merciless.
2. Tarik Kafala wants to hide the truth
CJK   (01.26.15)
he does not want the world to know that there are islamic terrorists murdering infidels. kafala's goal is to suppress freedom of speech and advance the islamic ideology of blasphemy against islam.
3. As I recall the Beeb never had any problems
Anglo ,   Israel   (01.26.15)
calling the IRA terrorists. But that was in English, not Arabic.
4. There are so many terrorists among Arabs
Danny   (01.26.15)
(well where else) so they're trying to differentiate between one terrorist and the other. Is that what they're saying?
5. Quite right too
(01.27.15)
a very long time ago the BBC used to pride itself on being impartial and unbiased. If these men shoot up some cartoonists then they are gunmen and murderers . I don't care what a newspaper feels about them whether they feel they are ''scum terrorists'' or ''Islamic heroes'' or anything else. That sort of language belongs in the opinion section of the paper.
6. How about this definition?
david ,   Montreal,Canada   (01.27.15)
Religious terrorist. They did yell "Alah akbor".!
7. Raise doubts about BBC impartiality?
solomon ,   bklyn   (01.27.15)
What impartiality?
8. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said
אסי הכהן ,   ארצות הברית   (01.27.15)
"I might not be able to define it, but I know it when I see it. " Let's face it, acts of terrorism was performed by terrorists.
9. perhaps
(01.27.15)
BBC seeing the end of religious and political terror as organised crime and calling for individuals standing alone. Every body on their own now we lost the war on organised terror raining down on opponents. Just trying nice words!
10. When it's by the Jews it's terrorism according to the BBC
Joe Bliksem ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (01.27.15)
The BBC describes the Irgun headed by Menachem Begin as a" terrorist" group. Look it up on their website.....it's there for all too see.
11. a neutral event?
BAB ,   Jerusalem   (01.27.15)
OK, so "terrorist" is value-laden. Well, that sort of sums it up doesn't it? Perhaps it would be more accurate to say "two gentlemen happened to be in the neighborhood and happened on the office of the staff of a satirical newspaper in Paris. By the time they left the office, about a dozen people were dead." That would allow us not to read too much into the actual act, such as motives, etc. It's like saying that, as luck would have it, 6 million Jews were at the wrong place at the wrong time about 65-70 years ago - collateral damage?
12. OMG Another King of denial
BUILD BABY BUILD !!!   (01.27.15)
Like obama who can't force himself o say "Islamic terror" and, that's exactly what it is from Ft .Hood to the Boston Marathon.. Just call it what it is, Islamic Muslim terror. It's not going away!
13. Instead of "terrorists", how about
A ,   Belgium   (01.27.15)
envoys of Islam, the religion of peace? They are both the same anyway.
14. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.27.15)
Yes, but he was talking about pornography. Varying standards, depending on who is looking. There is nothing fungible about Islamofascist terrorism. It is what it is. And if Moslems feel "offended," perhaps they ought to change their ways. What is the one common thread among Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, ISIS, PFLP, and the terrorists responsible for the recent horrific events in France? They are all Moslems. Most are Arabs. It's eminently fair to generalize, when the specifics are virtually identical. I would never go so far as to say that "all Moslems are terrorists." It would NOT be incorrect to suggest that "virtually all terrorists are Moslem."
15. Irgun - A Terrorist Group
Nigel Kersh ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (01.27.15)
Joe, you're dead right. Here's a quote from the BBC: "Under Begin's command, the underground terrorist group Irgun carried out numerous acts of violence." How's that for unbiased reporting? In my mind, the BBC feels quite free using the T-word just as long as it's Brits being the target.
16. Apparently, according to Kafala
US citizen ,   US   (01.27.15)
it's either terrorists or Islamists. One would think Islam would want to distinguish itself from the humans that do these things in it's name. I guess not. Wonder what heinous act Islamists will perpetrate next.
17. To Quote Tony Blair . . .
emanon ,   USA   (01.27.15)
"The purpose of terrorism lies not just in the violent act itself. It is in producing terror. It sets out to inflame, to divide, to produce consequences which they then use to justify further terror." - Tony Blair. Sure sounds like the Charlie Hedbo attack a lots of other acts these same groups have committed under differnt names.
