1. "Maximum restraint"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.28.15)
Ever notice that "maximum restraint" is only urged when there is a very good chance that Israel will retaliate and draw blood? But since UNIFIL came to Lebanon, they never urged "maximum restraint" upon terrorist elements rearming and firing missiles at Israeli civilians, did they? Allowing Hezbollah to rearm, and rearm, and rearm, and allowing Hezbollah to freely and openly engage in the drug trade, are both gross violations of the United Nations-mandated cessation of hostilities. So, since Hezbollah can do what it wants, when it wants and against whom it wants, with nary a word of caution or protest from UNIFIL, Israel roundly rejects this remarkably fraudulent call for "maximum restraint" -- which is directed exclusively at Israel. The United Nations and UNIFIL have absolutely no credibility with the State of Israel. Although I will cheerfully assure Andrea Tenenti that there won't be "escalation." Israel is going to shut Hezbollah down. You want to withdraw your UNIFIL troops -- they're worthless anyway. But you had better do it quickly, because we will not allow them to seek refuge in Israel. But, Mr. Tenenti, you can always make your request to Syria. I'm sure Assad would be more than happy to accommodate you. Won't he? WON'T HE?
2. UN is well trained to run away for maximum restraint
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.28.15)
3. Really?
Brett ,   Florida   (01.28.15)
Why was he in the midst of terrorist operation? What kind of job was he doing? Will he have an autopsy to check for AK-47 bullet wounds? What in the hell DOES UNIFIL do there?
4. How come a spanish soldier killed..?
Beary White ,   Norway   (01.28.15)
When IDF returned fire, it was against the position were the fire came from. Then the Spaniards must have been on-looking when hezbolla made that attack..or been circulating around the terrorists..without even stopping the hezbolla attack...
5. So much for UNSC Res.1701
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.28.15)
South Lebanon is supposed to be clear of terrorists ,foreign soldiers and terrorists' armaments. There are supposed to be 15,000 Lebanese troops there in charge.Where are they? Why are there Iranian troops there? It's prohibited to supply or transfer weaponry to Hizbollah. Why is this not being enforced by UNIFIL? The Syria,Iran and Lebanon regimes are violating UNSC Res. 1701 every day without a word of protest from the UNSC.This is disgraceful and outrageous. The UNSC stabbed Israel and its citizens in the back in 2006 in its Israel-hating determination to protect Hizollah terrorists. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
6. Who are "all parties"?
Avi L.   (01.28.15)
ISIS, Hezballah, Al Nusra, Assad murderers, some other bunch of fanatics? Why don't the UN troops all go home? They are useless, they cannot even defend themselves, as proved when some of them are regularly taken hostages. They just provide some shield for the terrorists and some excuse to blame Israel. They need money home, so send them protect pinguins somewhere.
