Love it, I really do.
The Finance Ministry is Bibi's way of disconnecting from all responsibility for the financial mess he and Steinitz created before the last elections.
To reduce the deficit, you have to raise revenues and whichever way it's going to be done is going to hurt someone. Army wastage will be protected, settlements will be protected, free rides on the haredi gravy train will be protected. So that leaves taxes. Go for the influential rich and you'll be shot down by Bibibennet, go for the poor and your grassroots followers are going to go for your gullet, go for the middle class (what's left of it) and Lapid will be breathing down your neck, not without justification.
Every cut you make in order to provide cheaper housing will be pounced on. Every grusch you add to the citizen's burden will be resented and that continuous smile of yours is going to get thinner and thinner as you battle to get Bibi to sign anything that doesn't go his way.
We wait, with baited breath, to see who gets that last sympathetic but cynical smile. With a little luck, it'll be Yair Lapid.
