During WW2, The German air force bombarded and shelled civilians in cities and on roads deliberately, killing hundred of thousands, if not millions. Toward the end of the war, when the Allies armies have the upper hand, they recompensed by bombing German cities (through British and American air forces), killing hundreds of thousands (850,000 German civilians killed in that war). No one after that conflict has blamed the Allies for war crimes or crimes against humanity, except of course some Germans.
The conclusion : When an entity behaves without any moral inhibitions, it is not a sin to reprise it in kind.
