I hold no brief for Islam whatsoever. On the other hand, there has not been one major religion - Judaism included - where a deity has not been rolled out to justify violence, war and the killing of other human beings at various times in history (quite prevalent in the Bible, if you count that as history). Invariably, the moral/religious high ground (my deity is better than your deity) soon crumbles beneath those who try to take it.
