Should French (or any) Jews wear a kippa in public even though it might put their lives at risk? The use of a kippa, even when praying, is not a law; it is a modern custom (although custom can acquire the force of law). Of course some authorities insist that men should wear a kippa at all times. There is, however, a fundamental principle that stresses the primacy of human life. The laws are to be obeyed in order *to live*. If wearing a kippa is equivalent to holding up a sign saying «I am a Jew: attack me!» in an environment in which this could lead to death or injury, then to wear one would contradict that principle. Not to wear one would then be common sense, not cowardice.

Europeans, in their most benign incarnations, know nothing about Jews or Jewish culture. They perpetuate prejudice and spout anti-Jewish commonplaces. In some countries anti-Jewish speech and actions are common, in others they are rare (Portugal seems to be an example). But Jews in Europe generally face the same choice they have faced for centuries: assimilation or discrimination. It hardly matters what leading rabbis or politicians say. The people of Europe, with the rarest of exceptions, know nothing of the Jews, their religion, history or culture, and are not bothered by that ignorance. As to the kippa, it is a matter of custom if not of style, and is at any rate merely a symptom of the larger question.

yet the leaders of europe allow millions of young able bodied muslim men to invade their countries. these men then form predatory hords to sexually assault and rape european women. they turn to crime and dug dealing. european leaders also allow radical imams, financed by saudi arabia and other rich arabs, to preach hatred of the west, of christians and jews. the same hatred is preached in musim schools. the european press has tried to suppress the news regarding muslim violence in their countries. the french press does not publish violence against jews by muslims unless a jew is actually killled. european leaders have allowed foreigners to take control of their countries in the name of tolerance. the popullations of europe pay a heavy price for their leaders' tolerance.
