2. avoidancce of my lai massacres and deterrence
there is sometimes a fine line between massacres and d. theeterrence, to avoid idf performing massacres, there must be actiosn that promote deterrrence are in the eyes of the adversary. arabs respect toughness they fear family members of terrorists being harmed. so if they know the family and relatives will be rounded up and if guilty may be harmed, that has an effect.look at the letters they write just before death.
so the idf has to have a proper code of militray actions, but has to be seen as tough. rules of engagment have been far too restrictive. soldiers have been punished for delivering elbow smashes to protestors and would be trouble makers. to the credit of arabs, it is my opinoin that the nazis would have had a tougher time carrying out massacres of arabs because arabs fight tooth and nail and have guns in every nook and cranny.
where still too many jews from the haredi to the pacifists like haber, and zionist union members and meretz prefer turning the other cheek not just to be morally honorable but out of fear of so called violence.
guess what, israelis and jews world wide need to be able to defend themselves and deliver violence and to be seen to deliver violence.
look at netanyahu-great speeches, in good shape, anytime violent actions occur and need to be dealt with, he is nowhere to be found. he simply asks abbas to condemn them.lieberman's actions are more appropriate-closing down the village from escape, arresting familiy complicits orthose who knew and did nothing, and shooting those violently resisting.
israel needs a tougher leader, certainly not gabbay or herzog.
