What are "friends" for, just cigars and champagne?

Naturally, one nees one's "friends", especially in Israel, where you get nowhere without knowing the right people.

So, of course, a prime minister - and a millionaire in his own right - calls upon favours for those for whom he can find all the right people for business introductions, tender preferences and required permits, tax breaks and so on.

Just "friendship"? Pull the other one. The secretary attests to demands, not requests, and plenty shouting when it doesn't happen exactly as needed. In any case, word has it that PM Nettles HAS NO FRIENDS. He has mutual arrangements, that is all.

Mr prime minister is so well covered he could pass for an Egyptian mummy. The only question remaining is how much the payoff is for all those who take the fall.

Israeli society needs to get beyond the days of when Kibbutzim was the norm, lived on barely nothing, and socialism was the only way to survive. Cigars and champagne as bribes? Yeah, if it was the 1930's in the Soviet Union. This is nickle and dime. And as I recall, Obama gave CD's to the Queen of English - should that be considered a "bribe"? In fact if anything, I remember the press saying that he was being cheap.

if allegations are true, and you gave bibi lots of fine cigars and wine or champagne-you think we are schmucks. if again allegations are true, you gave the for possible favors. no one gives unlimited gifts especially a pm. if someone gave me many gifts, i might be inclined to do something for that person.

this whole thing stinks to high heaven. if all this is true, i don't even think bibi is the prime driver here.


Israel needs a new leader. bibi has been around too long and is only pm because herzog lapid gabbay and livni are weak weak weak and would put Israel in worse position.

Bennett is his own man, could differ with trump and still hold together while bibi buckles terribly under pressure-almost unbelievably so.

herzog runs at the first sign of terror, livni like peres is wrong on almost everything, gabbay and lapid are both security imbeciles and they both don't know how to negotiate. who on earth offers concessions before talks even start???!!


last point-Arab leaders some of them like nasrollah and a few others talk with some force in their words. why is it Israelis talk so submissively.

steinitz the other days says we prefer talks to resolve our maritime dispute. bibi says we don't want war though we will defend ourselves should assert its position. Arabs look at how Israel talks first.


peace by itself is not a religion. leaders should plan together ways to wipe out adversaries and not be shy about it.

does anyone seriously think that katz, erdan, hanegbi,shteinitz, elkin could execute war plans as leader. Give me a break.

War is difficult but without it, Israel would not exist. it is time it got serious about war and not do it on the cheap.there are opportunities. one such one would be to remove the gaza leadership in a decisive operation and neutralize gaza with its weapons. the merchant class could then take over with assistance.

this world don't keep social clubs/bond together/"know" the right people but instead stand patiently in line like the rest of us?!
If so you really don't deserve someone like Netanyahu.
