I don't know much about her, because frankly I'm not at all interested in & I've only heard of one film she's been in. However, I do know she was born in Israel & has spent most of her life in the US. So she really is not an Israeli, just an American Jew with an Israeli passport.

The Shoah, along with the 1939 english white paper worsened the european jewish pain and suffering but had no role on the jewish state creation. For the ignorant Portman knowledge, the jewish state creation roots back on few fondamentals happening which she apparently ignores: the november 2 1917 Balfour declaration which acknowledges jews as a People, as well as their historical connection with their ancestral land, the fall of the turk ottoman empire, the 1919 Smuts declaration which eventually became a fondamental modification of the League of Nation article 22 charter, the april 24th 1920 Sanremo conference with the principal allied powers which issued the Palestine Mandate so assigning to the jewish people the mandatory Palestine, part and parcel of the already dissolved turk ottomane empire, the july 24th 1922 Legue of Nation plenary session in which the Palestine Mandate was unanimously approved and United Kingdom selected as mandatory. While the english behaviour during their mandate was not one of the best, the jewish people prestate structure developed anyhow and once the british gave up renouncing the mandate putting it back in UN hands, the jewish leadership decided to declare indipendence in response to the 181/1947 UN partition plan resolution which was in itself illegal being in violation of UN charter article 80 which obliges UN to respect the predecessor resolutions included the Palestine Mandate.
As said at the beginning, miss Portman, you missed too many issues in the Israel foundation history and for such you are an ignorant unable to evaluate things you dont know so please learn how to be quiet, all of us will benefit of this.
