The left killed Patriotic Jews in 1948, and they would do it again, if they had the chance. The labor and left were the lying, murderous traitors, not the Irgun. It is time to force the left-wing to account for its crime against the Jewish people. This means Zionist Union and Meretz. Good for Bibi! The right has been silent too long. Bibi's statement is long overdue.
2. If the Poles can rewrite history, why can't the Netanyahu's?
Zalman ,   Applebachsville, PA   (07.08.18)
Begin was trying to start a civil war, while Ben Gurion was upholding a longstanding principle of Western law— the state is the only entity allowed to sanction the use of force against others. His followers were dupes. This is no different than Americans who honor Confederate war heroes who tried to overthrow the government.

Yes, with just 20% of the arms on the Altalena going to Irgun fighters and the rest (80%), going to Haganah, no doubt that posed such a dire threat to the entirety of the Haganah... It's funny how you all rip on some of the nonsense the ultra-religious do (and you are absolutely correct), but when you engage in such magical ludicris thinking yourselves, you are completely blind to the irrationality of your thoughts. You people are quite delusional when you state Begin would have led Israel to civil war. Anything but. He was a true nationalist.

The real truth is likely far more disturbing. Irgun had contingencies in Jerusalem, and those arms could have gained us far more ground against the British front over there, who were backing strongly the Jordanians in a regrettably successful operation to prevent completion of Jerusalem. The consequences were the loss of Jerusalem, the ethnic cleansing of Jewish populations in those regions, and a protracted conflict that till this day causes us grief and immense political headaches. We would not need Trump to declare anything had those weapons gone where they needed to, and the left was not pimping out our sovereignty to Anglo-Saxon interests, out of a mixture of self-loathing, fear, and obsessive hunger for absolute power in their camp. 1948 saw many population shifts and in today's day and age, it could never be done. There would be no such thing as East Jerusalem and certainly not with an exclusively Arab population.

Begin deserved to be our second prime minister, or one far earlier, than the time he ascended to his rightful position.

And for the record, the left still engages in social terrorism against the right. If you have intimate experience in some of the fields dominated till this very day by the left, you'll see it.

This proclimation by Netanyahu is a mere drop of recompense/restitution in a disgraceful, embarassing, and humiliating to the Jewish spirit, that those leftist extremists put on us.

Makes no difference in any event, there's no Begin or Shamir to lead us. Those types can't grow in the world environment today, and any semblance to them is stiffled quite quickly.
4. If course they were not traitors, but they were wrong
Ben   (07.08.18)
to undermine the government and army leadership...

I wish that Benjamin Netanyahu would also acknowledge that today the brave Israelis who do not agree with his policy of supporting settlements and continuing the occupation are also Patriots and not traitors. It would help reduce the sorry perception that he is a big hypocrite...
