1. "What happened to our Israel"
tiki ,   belgium   (08.11.18)
Israel wasn't build to serve as a toy for liberal Jews in far away America and neither as a tax facilitator.

Israel was re-established as the National Home for Jews to come to, live, work, build & defend when needed.....and than criticize when needed.

So, Liberal Jews of America, welcome to the modern Israel.
70 years old, strong & independent.....but still vulnerable.

For those who wan't to destroy this Jewish dream are still very much alive and have now found a willing Jewish partner.
2. Sorry, American brethren: OUR Israel was NEVER the one you

have imagined in your clueless, Americanized, liberal-to-the-limit minds!
BTW, the sooner you wake up to your own peril awaiting behind the corner
the better chances of survival& joining us here, in Zion.
3. Breaking laws gets you arrested

4. Anyone claiming nationality law is racist, is the racist
(08.11.18)
Nearly all democracies in the world have similar national documents targeting Israel on this is the definition of a double standard on one nation in the world. Antisemitism.
Most of what it says is written in the mandate for Palestine, the primary legal document on the land.
5. I am a ind.filmmaker who worked at Channel 1 for 35 years
Neil Weisbrod ,   Jerusalem   (08.11.18)
I am an American Jew who grew up during the 60's in a Conservative suburban NY community. At the age of 16 I came by myself to Israel and spent a summer with four families. My entire family, all of their friends, my friends and my Jewish teachers all told me to not get involved with Zionism or Israel. They told me that it was a crazy experiment which will never succeed. I have now lived here for 40 years. My children and grandchildren were born here and it is perhaps the most wonderful and important thing that I have done in my life.
Israel is a democracy and if the American Jewish community want to influence what is happening in Israel, I suggest that the leadership should encourage immigration to Israel and perhaps set the example themselves. Liberal Jewish Americans could even become a majority.
In short, in my experience, American Jewish distance from Israel is nothing new. I come to the US every year and most of my US Jewish friends and their children know nothing about what is happening Politically or Culturally in Israel. I am an important example to them of and about life in Israel. I would love to have seen a large movement of the US Jewish Community in this direction. That it has never happened is nothing new.

7. The 'Nationality Law'
Dr. E.R. ,   תל אביב   (08.11.18)
I suspect that very few have read the whole text of the law, but rely on all kinds
of un-scholarly criticisms. - Please read c a r e f u l l y the full text of the law.
Cordially.

They consciously decided to disconnect the problem is NOT Israel but them ! They want to force on Israeli Jews what they try to force in US radical social agendas Oh yes by all means bring your failed Judaism here with its Lesbian and Transfender “Rabbis” that’ll save Israel NO!
10. The State of Israel, as Europe, America and the rest of...
Nadav Katz   (08.11.18)
the world is in a dynamic state of change. However, the State of Israel is, has been and shall continue to be a liberal democracy and the sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people as it has been all along. Sadly, too many American Jews, out of lack of knowledge and understanding, can't relate to this reality. Instead of expecting us, the Jews of the State of Israel, to adhere to American values, perhaps American Jews ought to invest more time and efforts to appreciate the history of the Jewish people, the Land of Israel, the Hebrew Bible - Old Testament, as the Christians call it - and the Hebrew language. Without these tools it is difficult to appreciate the State of Israel and the Jewish society that dwells in it.
11. Israel does not belong to the Diaspora
Kelilah   (08.11.18)
When defining Holy we see it means "Set Apart." The name Abram means "on the other side." Our Father Abraham was set apart on the other side of all the people living around him during his time. There is a reason why Israel is set apart from all the other nations of this earth. Israel is the home of the Jewish people BUT Israel does not belong to the Jewish people, the Land of Israel belongs to G-d and HE has set HIS people apart to be HOLY. That is not democracy but rather Israel is to be ruled by our King and His Laws over HIS Kingdom. Homosexuality is an abomination to our G-d and goes against His natural laws. It is proven that children raised with homosexual parents end up with many mental problems including a high rate of suicide. WHY? Because G-d ordained marriage of one man and one women and these parents produce the life of children who have both a mother and a father. To go against G-d's Laws is to bring curses upon these children as well as these homosexuals. Thus the Surrogacy Law was introduced to protect the children of Israel. As for intermarrying, G-d has stated over and over that our Jewish people are NOT to marry those of the other nations we are not to give our daughters to them nor take women for our sons from them... there is to be no intermarrying among our Jewish people within the Land of Israel or the Diaspora. As for the Nationality Law there is nothing in that Law that is new. Israel which is G-d's Land was set aside for His Jewish people, all Jews living in the Land are sojourners with our KING and thus under the Laws of G-d over His people and His Land. Being set apart does not mean there is Democracy and anyone can decide for themselves their own laws.... being set apart as Holy unto our G-d means we obey HIS LAWS given to the Jewish people in Covenant on Mount Sinai so as to be a Light unto the nations of this world restoring them back to HIM. If this upsets the Diaspora Jews then they must take this matter up with G-d. The Land of Israel will abide by HIS LAWS and will maintain their Covenant in obedience with the G-d of Israel our King. Anyone who has a problem with G-d's Laws is fee to leave the Land of Israel and live wherever they feel comfortable. But do not tell the LORD G-D of Israel how to govern HIS OWN LAND.
12. "their" Israel?
Avi L.   (08.11.18)
"their" because they spent some holidays?

Took a selfie at Kotel?
13. The American non Jews
Phoenix   (08.11.18)
There is no problem between real Jews everywhere.
The nationality law, surrogacy are stuff that bothers only non Jews that
Do not have real Judaism as faith and the Torah as teaching.
The reform are not Jews according to Judaism there for your
Self called Rabbis have no right to perform here marriages. Sorry!
Yes the gap it’s there and growing between Judaism and fake American Jews and yes it will become more evident. As 85% of American self called Jews do not belong to our people or to our religion they are not real Jews and we don’t owe you anything!
14. How many Orthodox Jews...
solomon ,   New York   (08.12.18)
fought in Israel's Independence War? What great Orthodox commitment was there? What great contribution did Orthodox Jews give to Israel's Independence War?
How many non-religious Jews fought in Israel's Independence War?
Answer these questions, then post!
15. Rescind the law and embrace democracy
DOV ,   USA   (08.11.18)
As one who fought in battle for Israel alongside my fellow Israelis from all walks of life it disgusts me to read some of this talk back garbage. Maybe we need a civil war in Israel between pro-democracy Israelis and right wing Nationalist Jewish Israelis and create another border. Believe me and I speak for myself I would not be proud going to report for duty in this climate and I'm ashamed of my fellow countrymen.
16. Mr.
Ami ,   Tel-Aviv   (08.11.18)
As an Israeli, I hope the outside world will save us from ourselves.
17. the wroter should inform herself before criticizing
(08.11.18)
arabic was never official language, and it is given way more extensive and better minority rights in Israel than minority languages in most other countries of the world.
18. AMERICAN JEWS
MR CYNIC ,   SAFED CYNIC HOUSE   (08.11.18)
" Worked tirelessly for the jewish homeland " ha ha ha ha ha ha lol .
19. ARROGANT AMERICANS
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED HONESTY   (08.11.18)
American jews arrogantly ,and erroneously, imagine that they somehow own Israel and can, from thousands of miles away, dictate policy and life-and-death security issues to Israel.Such chutzpa, such a nerve. And if american jews can not find a connection to Israel, frankly it is no loss to Israel.
20. AMERICAN JEWS
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED HONESTY   (08.11.18)
American jews overestimate their own importance.
21. THE CRUX OF THE PROBLEM
SAFED KABBALIST ,   SAFED HONESTY   (08.11.18)
American jews are embarrassed by a Jewish state that is truly jewish. Were Israel to be ,firstly and above all else, a " Democratic " state then american jews can connect with it, but if Israel is a Torah observant and " Jewish " state ,then american jews feel ashamed, but that is their problem not ours.
22. EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL
STIGMUND FREUD ,   SAFED GENIUS   (08.11.18)
American jews are trying to use emotional blackmail against the Jewish state.
23. Like this hasn't happened before
shachalnur ,   utrecht   (08.11.18)
Before WW2 European Jews were mainly anti-Zionist.

1897 Zionists tried to force Jews to go to Palestine, while whipping up hate against Jews in general.

Almost all refused, and got stuck because they didn't want or couldn't go anywhere else.

And when TSHF it were anti-Zionist Jews that got murdered by the millions.

We're seeing a repeat.

By the time Zionist Israel will be crossing borders that the world in general can't accept anymore, the angry ones will take revenge on the Diaspora (including anti-Zionist) Jews.

It looks like 'never again"is a hollow phrase, because it gonna happen again.

The problem is not Jews or Israel, the problem is Zionism.

And untill Judaism is unable to face this problem seriously we're in deep doodoo

24. Ideologues
Stanley Cohen ,   Ottawa   (08.11.18)
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Liberal/Conservative Jews helped bud Israel through their financial and moral support. They are not out to fight with Israel but to find some common ground. The religious right has hijacked mainstream politics and this is troubling even to a lot of Israelis. If the attitude is to reject any thoughts of discussion then Israel can only further isolate itself. This is basically the strategy of the ultra orthodox. Reject the draft for Hassedim and then beg for state handouts and entitlement to all security and protection. They can have that but don't come running for support with your tail between your legs
25. American jewery
amos ,   Langley   (08.13.18)
American jews are apologetic jews.
Since the birth of Israel they have attempted to shape the country based on their version of what Israel should society and laws should look like and for decades they have infected Israel with their decay and sleaze. Now that Israel is less dependent on their financial support, they are grieving for their lack of influence.

My message to them is simple. You dont like the Israel you see, go live there and make the change from within, otherwise, concentrate on cleaning up your rotting soceity
26. # 16 Ami
(08.15.18)
As an American Jew, I hope they don't.
Israel needs saving from anti semitic as*holes.
27. When is a Jew a non Jew?
BBB   (08.15.18)
When they deviate away from Judaism for false religions and false notions that deny Judaism.
One can be a Jew any place but, Jews who forget their faith have become Gentiles.
28. Both countries are broken, but...
manic drummer ,   Haifa   (08.15.18)
...we Jews will have to choose which country is ours. The Almighty Himself decide that for us a long time ago. Not every Jew outside Israel hates Israel and not every Jew in Israel loves it. For now, the big challenge will be to separate from the world around us. Call me a fanatic, but something major is about to change and Israel is where we Jews need to be. Time is running out and so is His patience.
29. We are totally fine
Bar Star ,   Jerusalem   (08.17.18)
without liberal American Jews. Most of them are indifferent to or anti-Israel.
And they are rapidly disappearing anyway. The major support comes from the Orthodox Jews and evangelical Christians.
30. I am "American Jewry" and I support you, Israel.
leo ,   usa   (08.17.18)
No worries - when "liberal" friends of liberal US Jewry will become openly anti-semitic (as it is happening in Europe today) their love for Israel will re-emerge.
