1. intermarriage with arabs will be a major problem
david ,   new york   (10.16.18)
Israelis laugh when I say that intermarriage in Israel is a serious problem. ive seen a fair number of intermarriages between Israelis and Filipinos, but ultimately there will be major league intermarriage between the religious jews and arabs. as the arabs assimilate, they will seek intermarriage. id give it another 20 years before it becomes a huge issue
2. In my divorce hearing
Honeyrose   (10.16.18)
The judge awarded 5k a month to my ex. In his summary he wrote that " the defendent spends money on his "goy" mistress ( actually a convert jew). I am glad to see that this notion has no longer a place in our society
3. Mazal Tov! Mabruk! All the best to the newly weds
katanga   (10.16.18)
4. Mazal Tov/Hza Saeidaan!!
Nigel Kersh ,   Ra'anana   (10.15.18)
Wishing the happy couple a long, happy, and healthy life together, with many ISRAELI children!
5. Inter-marriages strengthen the gene pool.
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.16.18)
They bring up healthier babies, which of course is desirable and good for Israel. Without intermarriages (with people from different faiths and races,) Jews would be extinguished by now through genetic diseases. Every Jew alive is here because of mixing with non-Jews over the ages. The more of it happens the better for Jews because without it they are marching toward extinction.
6. Stop promoting intermarriage! It’s hillul Hashem!
Reb yid   (10.16.18)
7. At least the husband is not Muslim. Most mixed religion
Rivkah   (10.16.18)
with a male Muslim husband in Muslim-Jewish or Muslim-Christian marriages fail or the wife dies when the brakes on her car fail when the Muslim husband decides to get rid of her. Others divorce since the differences are too great. Drew Barrymore married a Jewish man and divorced him after two children. Better to marry your own kind since haShem hates divorce.
8. Just as we cannot change religious cannons from the outside,
(10.16.18)
the religious should be banned from deciding in regard to our most private matters.
In short: the State should provide fully recognized channel for civil marriage.
Taking the general divorce rate, this couple has as good a chance as any other "pure" communion of "appropriate" mates :-)
9. Rights again barbarism
David ,   Paris   (10.16.18)
Nobody has the right to tell somebody who he/she should marry. There's nothing above freedom and humanity. It all is pure racism and barbarism. What's more, no majority can assimilate to a minority, this never happened in History. What's more, let me remember you Zionism was made for the Jewish people to join "the great family of nations". And in every nation some people marry minorities and foreigners. Anybody loving Zionism and Israel should defend freedom in Israel. Everybody should remember that the Nuremberg laws in 1935 Germany made sexual relations and marriages between Jews and "Aryans" forbidden to protect the "Aryan people". Can anybody think about that or is anybody totally stupid like Oren Hazan and Arieh Dery ?
10. congratulations
amjad dabas   (10.16.18)
nothing will prevent two people to love each other and get married.
11. moishe rabeynu
moishe   (10.16.18)
great union today but will it last in a very volatile area? living common law is popular today in many places. great unions and lovely children despite law and clergy. god does not seem to mind either. I wish both well.
12. Mr.
Sheldon Greenberg ,   Jerusalem   (10.16.18)
Their children will not be Jewish. I assume you are proud of that.
13. Twenty years ago I was forced to choose
(10.16.18)
between my spouse and my religion. She was forced as well. We choose each other and never regretted, even though it meant leaving some friends and nations behind. the country we leave in is strong because of diversity/inclusion. sadly, it is not Israel. I wish Israel matures and separate state and religion. I respect religions exclusivity if religions respects the rights of others to their own, different religion. Religions who do not accept that shall be subject to strict state controls and limitations until they grow up and accept to coexist. We are all humans. We are one. On a tiny, delicate planet.
14. inter-marrage
mike ,   israel   (10.16.18)
a tragic event. what happens to the children? they have no place. they'll be raised in a tragic twilight zone!
15. 'The state protects children of mixed marriages'.
tiki ,   belgium   (10.16.18)
The different interested communities don't!

The children won't be neither Jews nor Muslims, neither Israeli nor Arab.

They will be a total mishmash, which sounds nice & 'progressive' but isn't!

The'll always be the focus of groups/individuals who don't like/agree with other groups/individuals..

I'm not even talking about when the marriage won't last (50% chance) and the children will be the victim again.

Love is beautiful, but marriage & children comes with a responsibility which these 2 intelligent & talented people apparently have not thought trough, which is bloody stupid & sad.
16. Internarriage should be strongly, systematically discouraged
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.16.18)
Intermarriage is one of the simplest topics going. It is bad for Israel and bad for Jews in every way. Period.

If it was good, the American Reform Movement (with a 70% plus intermarriage rate), would be thriving. The opposite is happening. It is practically as extinct as dodo birds. Intermarriage destroys Jewish communities. There is no rational argument with this fact.

It is neither possible, nor desirable, to make intermarriage illegal. But it should be strongly and systematically discouraged in Israel. In every institution from the educational system to the I.D.F. Putting it positively, Jews should be strongly, systematically encouraged to marry within our faith.
17. It was the mixed multitude that gave Moses no end of trouble
Rivkah   (10.17.18)
What was the mixed multitude? The children of Hebrew-Egyptian couples. The Mixed multitude did not know who or what they were and so they were angry, not accepted by the Hebrews and not accepted by the Egyptians. They were incessant trouble makers. Mixed race children of Jewish-Persian and Jewish-Babylonian couples caused Ezra and Nehemiah the Prophets to tell the Jews returning to Yerushalayim to divorce the non-Jewish spouses and the children by them.
18. The real question is how the sexy luci has been able to
Tehraniporou   (10.16.18)
Enslaved herself in this day and age with marriage. Boum you are married and before you realise where the ring is and where to chose the right house divorce. After one divorce I don’t how one could consider marriage and not laugh. It is sometimes good to sail free and increasingly with 22-25 years old, everything is refreshing
19. Arab Jew marries an Arab Muslim, no big deal
Billy Bob ,   Queen City, USA   (10.17.18)
Mazel Tov
20. This putz will figure out what we Jews in galut already know
Al   (10.21.18)
A young shiksa turns into an alte mise goya.

He'll figure it out in time. Maybe not..he may be simply dumb.
21. Mazal Tov dear Lucy and Tzachi
Benjamin Kahane ,   Beersheva   (10.22.18)
may this be a blessing for all!
22. Liberal Israeli values, LOL
Iron Duke   (11.17.18)
Just look at all those comments on this thread, and then tell me where those mythical liberal Israelis that they keep telling us about are hiding. Face it: Israel is a theocracy, just like Iran. The only difference is in some of the minor details.
