She is trivializing the Holocaust - that is why her statement is an affront. Second,the UNHCR exists now. If there are those from Central American who may be claiming asylum status - they have to seek it at the first country that they come to that it can be offered; in this case, Mexico. They wouldn't qualify for asylum in the US for that reason. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez as a lawmaker should know that.
