These three young americans are not nearly as innocent as they portray themselves, they came to Israel looking for trouble.....and they found it !

Millions of young folk have come to Israel under the auspices of Taglit / Birthright and have had no problems.In fact they had a terrific time. Perhaps these three youngsters should take a good hard look at themselves and how they behave when abroad ?

Once upon a time, there were three naive young people from a distant land.This land was named America. Their names were Benjamin ,Emily and Shira. And they won a treasure ,a free all -expenses paid once-in-a-lifetime journey to the land of milk and honey and Falafel . But these three young folk imagined that they had magical powers and that they knew better than their hosts and they rudely began to fight with their hosts ,who were showing them around the land on a magical bus ,decorated with colourful posters and balloons. Their hosts felt hurt and insulted and told the three young folk to go back home. And they all lived happily ever after.

Clearly ,there is more to this episode ,or tale, than young Benjamin ,Emily and Shira would want us to believe. In other words, they did not behaves themselves properly .

When you are in Rome, especially when you are a guest ,do NOT insult the romans.

Why were young Emily ,Benjamin and Shira kicked off, ejected from the Taglit programme ? That is an easy one to answer .They were booted out because they came with a predetermined plan to agitate and make trouble ,and they discovered the hard way that Israel does not have to suffer them gladly. I hope these three grow up or else try the same stunt in China, or Russia or Iran or Turkey or Latin America and see how that works out for them .

When you are a guest and all your expenses are paid ,you need to be courteous shut the hell up .

Firstly, I do not wish to be rude nor to insult you. Regardinbg the seperation barrier or wall ,which let's face it is ugly ,an eyesore, and regarding ' The Occupation " israelis have inherited these unfortunate aspects as a consequence of mistakes made long ago ,for example in 1967 during the six-day-war.Israel captured ,in a defensive war, large areas of territory from Jordan a.k.a. " The West Bank " which is biblical Judea and Samaria, but instead of evicting ther palestinian population ,which would have been the least cruel and most sensible option ,israeli leaders and military leaders like te late Moshe Dayan begged these palestinians to stay,not to leave. And so today we have a big problem with palestinians who hate israelis and constantly try to kill israelis, and israelis who have inherited this mess and have little choice but to construct ugly walls and fences in order to save lives. Incidentally, american President Trump also wishes to build an ugly seperation wall on the USA southern border with Mexico which is also controversial. In an ideal world, we would all live happily without walls ,but the world is far from being ideal. And criticising Israel is not going to help make the world more ideal !

This was a valuable lesson for these three young americans, albeit a rather painful one. Young Emily, Benjamin and Shira are NOT israeli citizens ,rather they are guests in Israel ,tourists. And guests have limited rights under the law. Even democracies do not suffer criticism nor agitators gladly ,in many countries people behaving similarly would be unceremoniously banged up ,locked up. This is unpleasant, but this is the reality. We are ,of course, all entitled to our opinions but we do not have to express those opinions, rather we can keep them to ourselves. In addition, most israelis fully understand and appreciate that the situation regaring the palestinians is far from perfect ,in fact it sucks. And they do not need some twenty-something amercians telling them this, they already know this . And even in liberal democracies ,such as Britain, France, and The United States and others, young Emily ,Benjamin and Shira are not as free as they would imagine to simply do what they want ,there are limits . Israelis are sick and tired of being lectured to by foreigners, well -meaning or otherwise.

Young americans ,such as Benjamin ,Shira and Emily and others, lack historical context.Which is understandable as they were not around fifty years ago nor seventy years ago or one hundred years ago.Israels' problems with palestinians did not begin yesterday , rather they go back a long way, many decades. And young israelis have simply inherited these problems ,problems their grandfathers and great -grandfathers caused by their many mistakes. So the present generation of israelis just try to manage the best they can.Of course, it looks easy from afar ,when you are in the midst of the problem , on stage ,it looks very different ,which is why criticism from those who live far away and have no vested interest is often unhelpful.

It is fashionable to bash Israel ,to criticize. But one does not have to be a slave to fashion .

What is the definition of chutzpah ? Taking a dump on someones' doorstep, ringing their doorbell and asking for Toilet Paper. Alternatively, coming on a free ,all- expenses- paid trip and then criticising the hosts.
