1. Why is Israel so gentle while guarding its border?

If a thousand screaming armed people of any nationality came down my street throwing grenades and running amok, I assure you that I and every neighbor on my street would pull out every weapon we own and shoot to kill every single person who came within a hundred feet of my front door.
The border is Israel's front door. If you don't knock politely and ask permission to enter, and instead throw grenades and set up burning-tire smoke screens to hide attempts to destroy the fence, then you should fully expect to be injured or killed when you do. Period. That's how hot borders work. Stay on your side and we stay on our side.
Anyone approaching the fence is putting their life in danger. Anyone touching the fence is sealing their fate. Anyone grabbing the fence and trying to damage it is a suicidal idiot. But then, that describes Hamas soldiers and supporters to a 't'.
Israel has nothing to apologize for.
It was reported that, "Three suspects have breached the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip, prompting IDF forces to open fire at them. The perpetrators returned to the strip shortly thereafter."
I have to ask, how is it that 'IDF forces' (plural) managed NOT to kill these three? Somebody breaks through the fence and the IDF can't manage to kill them?
Were their guns not working properly? Were they told not to kill the Hamas soldiers? I assure you that these three will make more attempts. And if any of them make it into Israel, they won't be stopping at the first house they come across to have tea.
That should be in every soldier's mind: any Israeli civilian fatalities by a Gazan sociopath are only possible because the IDF failed in its mission to police the border.
IDF, keep on shooting at empty bricks as long as you don't want to put an end to this situation. You perfectly know that destroying bricks does not unnerve Hamas. On the contrary, they feel each time more confident of themselves as our response is like scolding a small child. Once and for all, grab the bull from its horns and put it to rest forever.
