DANIEL ROSENTHAL ,   Monsey ny   (01.31.19)
Gantz is another leftist masquerading as a Centerist. He is the same as Lapid. A vote for either of them is a vote for a Left Wing Coalition. Dont be fooled..
2. Clear, concise, unambiguous: Mr Barnea is excellent as usual
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.31.19)
Could the Candidate Gantz benefit from consultants like Mr. Barnea? Avoiding a fiasco President Trump created with the media in the U.S. I believe a very strong and respected consultant on media would be very helpful. The media in the US are at the front of showing Trump as the failure he really is. Luckily, Mr. Gantz seems to be a much better Candidate in Israel.
3. How the hell would ANYONE trust a guy that waited, gauging
(01.31.19)
the 'temperature' of potential voters, THEN came out, saying something he was told people WANTED to hear?!
That is truly beyond me& staggering!
I don't care what side you're on but vote for someone with CONVICTIONS!!!!
Otherwise it's all for nothing and we don't deserve this lousy 'democracy' (that's not that great system to begin with)
Yes all politicians are guilty of lying to their voters, but these days they do it scientifically!!!
4. When our 'independent' media decides so: even cows fly!

(01.31.19)
Labor-apparatchiks regard/lament, that Benny Gantz will be Israel's next PM!
I wonder what happened to Lapid as the next "Sure Thing".
Oy; the amount of simplistic BS being poured out these days is staggering.
Yo people: just STOP reading& start thinking for yourselves: you can do it!
Ask (yourselves) the real/hard questions and stop lying to yourselves!
No more wishful thinking....
6. Imbecile Barnea is getting worried

7. we are aware of your performance
david cpmment ,   beijing   (01.31.19)
we have seen your "performance" in Lebanon. You presided over the first Israeli Loss in a war. This was disastrous.

Better general than you could not lead the country. so sit back and relax and stop abusing these naive leftist.

What make generals think that they can become politicians ??
8. Please combine with Yesh Atid and save Israel!

Disillusioned   (01.31.19)
Gantz did not have political ambitions. What brought him to it was non-stop, press-fueled stimulation. Israel, they all cry, needs Chiefs of Staff to run the country. It doesn't really matter which, so long as they have the bars on the shoulders.

At first, they were all after Gaby Ashkenazi. He clearly liked where he was, earning buckets in the cushy jobs that all CoSs can expect the moment they step out of uniform. So they opted for the next. Without a murmur from any of these happily-retired, uber-comfy generals, came the polls. They did not have to do a thing. The speculative polls did it all for them. 15 mandates if so-and-so joins the fray.

It went on for a good two years, while a now convinced public called for their heroes to come and save them.

Who would not be flattered? Who would not be tempted? After all, man is a weak, corrupted creature by nature. Gantz, like Ashkenazy, will have had calls from every political party to come and boost their ratings, almost all (including the Likud) fall pretty short of the requirement to run on their own.

And, sooner or later, the ego can't help itself. Without ever having to prove himself in a role entirely different to the coddled life of a general in the military, these designated demigods know that they will be propelled into top positions. It's all part of the corrupt system that has been created over the years, part of which is the need for a nation born with built-in enemies for a saviour.

Gantz is essentially a decent man, but he's human. After two years of being hailed as the next king - without ever having to have lifted a finger, or spoken a single word - he fell for it. His ego couldn't help it. Typically of the Israeli alpha male, he thought to himself: why join anyone? I'm so popular already that the thought of being a No. 2 is simply unacceptable.

And so, armed with Yesh Atid's word-for-word platform, he presented his wish list and the adoring public are satisfied. They have their general, their saviour, their knight in shining armor.

He will regret it. He will fail because the same ego could not conceive of first going in with a like-minded party, learning the ropes as second in command in order to learn the ropes and prove his mettle. And for that reason, he is bound to come tumbling down - or, worse: he'll follow all the rest and settle for a cushy chair with plenty of perks.

Being compared to Bill Clinton is definitely NOT a good thing.

12. More empty slogans
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto -Kiriat Gat   (01.31.19)
One might expect a freshman politician to demonstrate a modicum of modesty and responsibility. In the complicated reality in which we live, there is no room for amateurs. Empty slogans and nods to the rest of the world cannot serve as a substitute for vision and a defined path. Gantz has zero diplomatic experience, no experience in economics, and the fact that he has reserved three of the top 10 spots on his list for former Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon and his candidates – despite the polls predicting that Ya'alon won't win a single seat – shows that he also has no basic political skills. Based on what I've read these past few days, I'm also doubtful about his military-strategic abilities.

John Stuart Mill and Alexis de Tocqueville, two of the greatest advocates of liberal democracy in the 19th century, were worried about its populist foundations, or in other words – that the street would be in control. Democracy can provide fertile ground for tricksters, jugglers, and illusionists. They are easy to market to the masses, but when the truth becomes clear, the smashed illusions come at an unbearably high price. In his speech, Gantz threw out baseless delusions, hoping there are enough citizens who will be willing to follow his piping off a cliff.

13. Not impressed.
tiki ,   belgium   (01.31.19)
After keeping stumm for so long it was an absolute anti climax.

He didn't say anything new, spoke in mantra's, didn't roll out a plan, there was no vision and the paid screaming 'supporters' were very irritating.

It wasn't the speech of a new inspired leader but of a man giving a coached speech & performance.

14. He is the man
Raoul Schur ,   Herzliya   (01.31.19)
Benny Gantz is the man to make a healthy change. He has my vote.
15. All without stating his opinions on the issues
Mordechai   (01.31.19)
Everyone can pretend he agrees with them on the issues because he still won't state any opinions at all
16. can't be worse
PETER ,   Paris   (01.31.19)
He will win because heis preparing a wining team , which will reassure the public as far as security of the country is concerned.
Let's hope.
He can't be worse than B.N.
17. Guarantee: Gantz would bring back Oslo nightmare
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.04.19)
It is a guarantee that if, heaven forbid, Gantz is elected P.M., the hideous evil nightmare of Oslo would return to Israel full fledged. Gantz is an obvious hard leftist, who is holding back on his agenda, to avoid alienating Israelis. But the signs are all there. The left has shoveled the Oslo excrement into a slightly new package and they are dying to uncrate it on Israel again. Vote patriotic right!
