Gantz is not as nationalistically attached as Netanyahu is to the West Bank so he is prepared to make concessions there. Gantz is positioning himself as the leader of the centre-left in best place to make peace with the Palestinians. So, nothing has changed much politically. It's just new characters on the stage. The IDF generals have been taught that in the modern world you don't make war so that's the standard they are trying to hold to. They have to understand that this is the middle-east not Europe or North America.
