As soon as a candidate runs for office ,ANY ( and every ) candidate suddenly becomes bombarded with allegation ,from ancient times. Forty years ago ,he did this and he did that. And no man is immune from these baseless and wicked allegations. Not President Trump ,not PM Netanyahu and General Benny Gantz and not you or I ,were we running for office. For fifty years ,nobody said a bad word against : Trump ,Netanyahu , Rabin / Gantz /Putin / x/ y/ but as soon as they try to become leader / WALLOP BIM BAM BOOM.

G-d forbid ,Israel is at war and being heavily beaten and bombarded by a dangerous enemy, which/ who would you prefer to be in command ? a monk ,a saint ,or a tough military man , a General ? and as for allegations from forty years ago ? past the sell-by-date.

These petty ( and they are petty ) internal bickerings and squabbles are luxuries Israel can ill afford. Israel faces serious potential ,and existential ,threats from Iran ,Hezbollah and others, not to mention the ever-increasing antisemitism worldwide. Israel needs solidarity, an end to the petty internal squabbles and needs to present a united front against all threats .Israel needs men who can fight and win wars and can strengthen the economy and look after the weakest and poorest segments of israeli society . What happened forty years ago ,when they were teenagers is irrelevant to the challenges of today .This is why we have Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, to cleanse us of our past mistakes and wrongdoings. I am not excusing past bad behaviour s ,but if Benny Gantz can meet the challenges of the future then Israel needs him .

Ask yourselves an honest question. If you are on a flight, sitting in an airplane and suddenly the wind starts to pound , or buffet , the aircraft ,all the passengers scream and even atheists start to pray , which is what happened recently to a British Airways flight trying to land in Gibraltar and hit by ferocious winds, who would you like to be in charge of the plane ? a playboy pilot who likes flirting with women and has been accused of being over friendly ,but nevertheless is a wonderful and experienced pilot, or a less capable and less experienced pilot who has never been accused of being a womaniser ? or a desperately ill fellow who can have a Doctor who is chauvinistic and watches porn movies but is a fantastic Doctor who saves lives, or a less capable Doctor who is as pure as the driven snow ? or in a war ,a tough General who knows how to knock the stuffing out of the enemy, or a less capable commander who is politically correct and would never dream of being inappropriate to women?
In other words, when things get rough ,when the excrement hits the air-conditioning system ,you need someone who can deliver the goods, not some saint.

Anyone running for office ,campaigning for election ,these days needs his head examined. Politics is a dirty business and is more trouble than it's worth .

Do not expect political leaders to be angels, to be saints. Israel just needs leaders who can defend the country and protect its people and look after its people. What they do in private is not our concern, poverty and employment issues, security and external threats are what should matter. This in no way wishes to condone of poor behaviour, but what happened when somebody was a teenager is not vitally important today.

Netanyahu charged with bribery ,Gantz accused of sexual assault ,Trump accused of various misdemeanours .

Maybe Gantz should step down until this is over with a legal trial as the left suggests or demands of Bibi?
