A few years ago, a religious jew, a chasid ,went hiking in the winter .There were heavy rains and the poor fellow fell in to a great lake ,very deep. This poor fellow began to drown and cried : " Hatzilu, please save me Hashem " and suddenly a kind-hearted stranger appeared driving a jeep.The stranger stopped and threw the drowning fellow a rubber ring ,but the chasid declined his help and said " no need ! Hashem will save me " and descended deep below the water .When he came back up , he saw a small boat coming towards him and the man in the boat threw the chasid a rope.The chasid refused the rope and cried : " No, Hashem will save me " and proceeded to drown.When he came up for air one final time ,a helicoper was overhead and threw down a ladder .The Helicopter crew shouted " Climb up the Ladder " but the fellow refused ,crying " No
! Hashem will save me ." and then he drowned.
When the chassid was at the gates of heaven ,shamayim ,he cried out in anguish to Hashem " oh Lord, why did you not save me ? why did you forsake me ? " and Hashem replied " But I sent you a man in a jeep with a rubber ring, a man in a boat with a rope and a helicopter with a Ladder ! "
