when we are abroad to give our country a good name - apparently not this lot - whether they did or they didn't - it's very very bad publicity! And, considering Cyprus and Israel have close connections - it's also embarrassing and awkward - even though a country cannot be held for its citizens behaviour when abroad.

An 11 years involving 12 years old boys and an adult female involving 12 Israelis. Seems strange doesn't it?

Having said that, young israelis must lean to respect others and also learn that they can not just behave as they please and all will be well.

Too many travellers , when abroad ,behave in a way they would never do at home .The opposite should be true, when abroad you must be extra careful for the very reason that you are not at home and are therefore more vulnerable.

I travel a lot and I have many friends abroad. Some think negatively of our country but I tell them how Israel is the pioneer in science and technology, leader in the world when it comes to innovation. I try my best to show them the amazing things about our country and to show them that there is another side to the story other than what they see on TV.

I am not born Jewish but I love my country Israel. And with this Cyprus incident, how am I or anyone is supposed to explain this disgusting act of these teenagers? Can you please represent our country better when you travel? Israelis have a bad reputation and is it too much of us to try harder to be exemplary citizens for the best of our country?

I don't believe that just because you are born of any ethnicity it automatically makes you more patriotic. If you want to be patriotic then show it with your actions and don't bring bad reputation to our country. This is the last thing we need.

While I am not Jewish, I am proud to say that I am zionist and israeli. I love everyone in our country regardless of their ethnicity or social status and I hope that the world can see the light of Israel as I see it.

This sounds like a tragic story (for everyone) but Israel shouldn’t be embarrassed. Young people do stupid things and many Israelis visit Cyprus trouble free.

Nobody in Cyprus will judge Israel over this, what people need to consider is why are such young people getting so drunk - where are the parents of all involved ?!

It has allowed the lowest form of life to invade beautiful areas en masse and destroy them. It brings out the worst in already low life scum who have no interest in experiencing beauty. Their sole aim is to release every primitive urge they can, to show off among themselves how drunk, uninhibited and revolting they can get. The British and their drinking are already well known for this, and Israelis, competitive and badly brought up by doting, stupid parents, feel they should go one better.

Hotels throughout these resorts - which are often the only source of income for islanders and leave them with little choice - hate the Israeli tourists in particular, because their behavior, most particularly when in groups, is so completely disgusting, gorging and stuffing themselves at buffets, stealing whatever they can from the rooms, arguing over billing, showing nothing but contempt for their hosts.

I know these types. I meet them almost daily: spitting on bus windows, harassing and ganging up on young girls, brawling in the streets, loudmouthed filth coming from their mouths at every opportunity. And their parents: "he's a good boy...."

As a nation, we should be ashamed. And as some of the revolting comments (all by misogynistic males) show, there is a great need for a good hard look at how it's all come to this. Discipline has been sorely lacking for decades - and this is the result.

Unfortunately ,sadly, a minority of tourists cause a lot of harm and damage to locals ,for example Spain has a lot of problems with young tourists in Majorca and Ibiza and other places, foreign tourists who drink to excess and take illegal drugs and fight and create havoc . Of course, this gives locals a very poor image of british tourists and israeli tourists and many other nationalities .Of course, millions of tourists behave perfectly well ,but it only takes a few " bad apples ' to create havoc. And local police forces can only do so much. Tourism makes money and creates jobs for locals ,but this money comes at a price ! in spain, tourists urinating and defecatin in the streets and littering and fighting have turned resorts into hellholes.

I do not condone these sort of vile and viscious attacks against women, or men. These attacks sadden me . Youth today are exposed to a dangerous and nasty combination of Pornography, cheap alcohol drugs and in the case of israeli culture a macho mentality. Israelis feel the need to be macho as they are constantly surrounded by lethal enemies in neighbouring countries and can not afford to display fear,so they overcompensate. Most people, not just israelis, let their hair down when travelling overseas and often behave badly.
It should also be taken into consideration ,that these 12 young israelis are innocent until proven guilty under the law, they also have rights under the law to a fair trial. In the media, the world over, women are portrayed as sex objects, which encourages men to view them that way. So media ,including Hollywood, has a lot to answer for.

Do israelis not already have a bad enough reputation ,without making matters worse ??
