Israeli film scores big in U.S.

“Walk on Water,” starring Lior Ashkenazi, depicts the relationship between a Mossad agent who is a second generation to Holocaust survivors, and the two grandchildren of a notorious Nazi, whom the agent is trying to track down throughout the film.

The movie's central theme deals with young people and how they cope with the past, present, and future, and it also touches on the connection between Israelis’ sense of victimization and their insensitivity toward the Palestinian plight.

“Walk on Water” premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2004, and was also a big hit in Israel.
