Anti-Olmert signs posted across country

Dozens of signs reading 'Olmert, disengagement turned me into a vegetable' posted along major highways, near acting PM's house in Jerusalem overnight by Gaza evacuees

Dozens of signs reading "Olmert, disengagement turned me into a vegetable" were posted overnight along the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, as well as the Ayalon Highway in central Israel.

Most signs were identified by traffic cameras and were removed. Ynet readers reported signs were also posted along the way from the acting prime minister's house in Jerusalem to the government offices in the capital.

Jerusalem municipality employees worked quickly to remove the anti-Olmert signs, and told Ynet posting them was illegal, and also constituted incitement.

Later, residents of Nitzan who were evacuated from the Gaza Strip said they are behind the posting of dozens of anti-Olmert signs on major highways.

The residents announced they will hold several demonstrations across the country in the coming weeks in order to protest the lack of suitable solutions to their problems following the evacuation

The posters, which were signed by a body identified as the "Disengagement's Victims Forum," included a phone number that leads to a voice mail message saying: "Hello, you have reached the Disengagement's Victims Forum. The Forum is made up of representatives from all the Gush Katif communities, and was founded in order to engage in a public struggle against the Israeli government and ensure evacuees' problems are addressed."

During the pullout from Gaza and the northern West Bank last summer, numerous signs against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon were posted across the country. Anti-withdrawal protesters have also blocked major motorways.

Notably, many of the teens active during the demonstrations played a central role in the violent evacuation of the illegal Wets Bank outpost of Amona recently.
