An al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades member was killed Sunday night after a missile was fired at the vehicle in which he was traveling in the center of Gaza City, official sources at the Palestinian security organizations reported.
Eye witnesses reported that an IDF unmanned aerial vehicle fired a missile at a vehicle in which a several organization members were traveling. Two other people, apparently Palestinian police officers who were in the area, were injured in the incident. Their condition is unknown.
According to the Palestinians, the missile was targeted at Muhammad Hijazi, one of the organization's commanders in the Gaza Strip, who is considered a top wanted terrorist. According to reports, Hijazi was not hurt in the incident.
AIF strikes Qassam launching sites
IDF officials reported that the army attacked groups of terror activists involved in launching high-trajectory fire from the northern Strip toward Israeli territory, and that the activists were in the vehicle during the attack.
Earlier, the Israel Air Force attacked Qassam launching sites in the northern Gaza Strip and fired artillery rounds at a number of areas, in response to the firing of three Qassam rockets from the northern Strip toward the western Negev.
The rockets landed in the Yad Mordechai and Kibbutz Karmiya areas. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
