The Police are set to raise their alert level on Sunday, in wake of the killing of seven Gaza family members in an IDF attack Friday, and concerns that the Palestinian will attempt to carry out retaliatory attacks to avenge their deaths.
Intelligence obtained by the defense establishment has led to 11 specific terror warnings and to some 80 general alerts. Most of the alerts pertain to the northern Samaria area and to the Islamic Jihad organization.
Over the weekend, the police held meetings to evaluate the situation, against the backdrop of the Gaza incident, and have already increased their alertness across the country.
Starting Sunday, police forces will concentrate efforts on securing crowded places, and will also deploy in greater numbers in the seam line area, around Jerusalem, and at entrances to cities.
Border Guard units and civilian volunteers are expected to take part in the operation as well.
Hamas' armed wing vowed on Friday to renew attacks against Israel hours after IDF artillery shells killed seven civilians.
"The Israeli massacres represent a direct opening battle and that means the earthquake in the Zionist cities will resume and the herds of occupiers have no choice but to prepare the coffins or the departing luggage," the group said in a statement.
