VIDEO - Palestinian security sources said Israel carried out an air strike on Thursday against a car in Gaza City carrying a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist, who survived the attack. The Israeli army said it had targeted a vehicle, but gave no details about who it believed was inside. The terrorist was lightly injured, witnesses said. The air strike came as Israeli forces prepared to broaden a Gaza campaign to free abducted soldier Gilad Shalit. Earlier on Thursday Israeli forces apprehended some 60 Hamas government ministers, parliament members and activists in what appears to be an attempt to “decapitate” the organization’s leadership. Among those arrested during the operation, which began shortly after midnight in Ramallah, Nablus, Qalqilya, Jenin and Jerusalem, are Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Nasser al-Shaer, Hamas government Labor Minister Muhammad Barghouti, Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Khaled Abu Arfa and many other top officials.
