Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip reported Monday that a 10-year-old Palestinian girl was seriously injured by a rocket that hit her family home in Beit Lahiya.
The sources said gunmen aimed the errant rocket towards Israel.
A Qassam rocket fired by Palestinian gunmen at around midnight landed in an open field in the western Negev; no injuries or damage were reported.
Earlier, a Qassam rocket was fired at Sderot, but the Color Red alert system did not go off. The rocket was reported to land in open territory outside of the city.
The IDF has concentrated its activity on the fifth day of its operation in Gaza on aerial strikes over the Strip. At about noon sources in Khan Younis reported that two Palestinians were killed in an air strike carried out by the IAF against and Islamic Jihad cell.
The IDF confirmed that a gunship aircraft fired a missile at the direction of two Palestinians who were detected crawling near the security border.
Artillery rounds fired at north, south Gaza
Also on Monday, the Israeli Air Force fired a missile at a group of gunmen near the border fence in northern Gaza. Palestinian sources said three gunmen have been injured in the strike and that one of them apparently sustained critical wounds.
The Israel Defense Forces struck Sunday night at the northern Gaza Strip a terror cell that was about to launch rockets at Israel's direction. Palestinian sources reported that a Hamas member waskilled and two other organization members were injured in the attack, in which an army helicopter fired a missile at a group of gunmen in the Sajaiya neighborhood in east Gaza City.
The IDF has also fired artillery rounds at areas in northern and southern Gaza used for terrorist activity throughout the night.
