Immigration Minister: Aliyah to Israel decreasing

"Immigration to Israel is decreasing, and this is a trend that has persisted over the last several years," said Immigration Absorption Minister Ze'ev Boim on Wednesday as he presented his office's work plan for 2007 to the Knesset Committee for Immigration, Absorption, and Diaspora Affairs.

"We must be careful not to allow this modest slant turn into a slippery slope," concluded Boim, calling on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Jewish Agency chairman Ze'ev Bielski to hold and urgent meeting on the subject. (Miri Hasson)
