Tel Aviv: Taxi driver says stabbed by passengers

Police search for two people suspected of moderately injuring driver after reaching their destination

Police are searching for two people suspected of stabbing a taxi driver in Tel Aviv on Monday night and moderately injuring him.

 

At around 1 am, the police received a report from citizens who spotted an injured taxi driver on Rothschild Boulevard. Police officers dispatched to the area found the 36-year-old man bleeding after being stabbed in the chest five times.

 

A Magen David Adom crew attended to the driver and transferred him to the Sourasky Medical Center in the city.

 

Meanwhile, police cars began searching for suspects and collecting testimonies from passerby.

 

Police officers arrived at the hospital and questioned the injured driver, who told them that he had picked up two passengers who had asked him to take them to the dolphinarium.

 

When they reached their destination, the passengers changed their minds and asked to driver to take them to the Rothschild area. According to the driver, he dropped the passengers off at their destination, but instead of paying him one of them began strangling him while the other pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest. The two then fled the scene.

 

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
