Iraq: Sunni sheik killed when his car explodes after meeting with Americans

An anti-al-Qaeda Sunni sheik died Monday night in Iraq when his car exploded after he had met with US forces northwest of the capital, police said.


Abbas al-Dulaimi, chief of the so-called Awakening Council in the town of Sabaa al-Bour, 25 miles northwest of Baghdad, died after meeting US officers at a forward operating base in the area. When he was driving home, his car exploded. (AP)
