Turkey approves return of confiscated property to religious minorities

Turkey's president on Tuesday approved a European Union-backed law to return properties belonging to religious minorities confiscated by the state decades ago, state-run media said.

President Abdullah Gul approved the bill that the parliament passed last week, making it possible for Jewish and Christian foundations to recover some of the properties seized by the state, including old school buildings, churches and orphanages, Anatolia news agency reported.  (AP)
