Eleven years have passed since the mysterious disappearance of Guy Hever, an Artillery Corps soldier who went missing after leaving an IDF base in the Golan Heights. During the years the Hever family has worked with the Born to Freedom Foundation and offered a reward of a million dollars to anyone holding information leading to his location, and now the Hevers are trying to raise awareness with a new film.
Hever continues to claim her son was abducted into Syria, explaining that no other rationalization for his disappearance has been offered. "Guy does not receive the quote unquote 'aura' other IDF missing persons receive, and this certainly limits his chances of returning home safely," she said.
"I can't scream, curse, dance and sing, and do all those things that I guess bring the children home, so I have a serious dilemma. Without this carousal and yelling Guy doesn't stand a chance."
The movie was proposed by Guy Hever's friend, Erez Perry. "When I was in the army I always knew I would make a movie about it someday. I said that if, when I am discharged, it would still be relevant I would have to do something about it. I feel obligated towards Guy."
The movie is currently in its investigatory stage, and Perry is determined to solve the mystery.
"What keeps surprising me is the helplessness exhibited by the system, the army, the State," he said. "When it comes to this I keep finding more details about the clumsy manner in which the investigation was conducted. If the matter had been investigated properly the situation would be different."
