It’s official: Lou Reed to perform in Israel with wife Laurie Anderson
Legendary musician to join new wife, Laurie Anderson on Israeli stage for two Tel Aviv shows; on November 3 at Mann Auditorium, following day at port’s Reading 3 club
It's official: Lou Reed will join his wife Laurie Anderson on stage for a few songs during two performances in Israel.
As reported a few weeks ago, Reed will join Anderson, his new wife and longtime partner in two shows on November 3 at Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium and the next day at the Tel Aviv port’s Reading 3 club.
It is still unknown which songs Reed will sing with Anderson, but Reuters reported that his guest appearance at his wife’s New York show, “was a haunting mix of styles — Lou Reed’s raw and gritty electric guitar and Anderson’s trademark electric violin. The newlyweds’ duet…was the musical high point of the evening.”
Reed and Anderson, who have lived together for years, were married in April in a private ceremony in Colorado. The wedding was kept secret and the two held a special party for friends in their hometown, New York.
Reed performed in Israel in 1994 at Hayarkon Park and at the Cinerama in 2000. In 1992, Anderson also performed in Israel.
This time Anderson is arriving as part of her European tour promoting her last album, “Homeland”.
The tickets will range from NIS 225 to NIS 275 (about $60-$70).
