The year 2008 is going to be a record year in terms of Israelis' visits to Turkey. Statistics published by the Turkish Immigration Ministry this week revealed that the number of Israelis who entered the country between January-October 2008 stood at 514,000, compared to 511,000 in all of 2007.
This figure represents a 10% rise compared to the same period last year, and a 55% increase compared to the same period in 2006.

Tourists from Israel rank 10th in terms of the number of entries to Turkey and make up 2.49% of all tourists to the country.
German visitors rank first and comprise 20% of all tourists to Turkey, followed by tourists from England, Russia, Holland and Iran.
Some 61,400 Israelis traveled to Turkey in October 2008, a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. However, it should be noted that while the Jewish high holidays took place during October in 2008, in 2007 they took place in September.
