UN council nears first Mideast plan in 5 years

For the first time in five years, the UN Security Council is poised to adopt a resolution calling for collective peace in the Middle East.

The two-page draft resolution calls on Israelis and Palestinians "to fulfill their obligations" under last year's peace deal brokered at Annapolis, Maryland, and for all nations and international groups "to contribute to an atmosphere conducive to negotiations." (AP)
