Kerry: US will ask Syria to help disarm Hizbullah
The United States will ask Syria to assist in the disarmament of Hizbullah, US Senator John Kerry said Wednesday during a visit to Beirut. "We want Syria to help us implement resolution 1701 and disarm Hizbollah," Kerry said at a press conference following a meeting with the Lebanese president.
Mr. Kerry, who will visit Syria as part of a regional tour, also underlined the new Middle East approach of US President Barack Obama. "Unlike the Bush administration, which believed that it could simply tell people what to do and expect them to do it, we believe in the need to engage in a dialogue," he said. (AFP)
