Palestinian protestor reportedly killed in West Bank

Demonstrators say Israeli security forces fire tear gas grenades before weeky Naalin demonstration even begins, try to enter house without seizure order

A Palestinian protestor was killed and another sustained wounds after being shot by Border Guard forces during an anti-security fence protest in Naalin, Palestinian sources said.

Earlier Friday, the palestinians said three protesters were injured by IDF fire during the weekly demonstration against the construction of the separation fence in the village of Naalin, west of Ramallah.

The fatality had been severely wounded at the scene and was declared dead upon being taken to the hospital. The other protesters were lightly wounded, the sources said.

They also said that the security forces operating in the area were faced by large groups of protesters throwing stones.

The man in question, Akal Srur, was known to security forces. In September of 2008, his parents' home was searched for security reasons, at which time his brother was shot and severely injured in an altercation with the soldiers.

Some 200 Palestinian, Israeli and foreign left-wing activists were at the Naalin protest on Friday. The IDF reported that the protesters threw stones at security forces, who responded by using riot dispersal tactics.

An additional 200 protesters gathered at the nearby village of Bil'in and also threw stones at security forces. Security forces there employed riot dispersal means, as well.

"These are violent riots in which hundreds of people take part. Whoever participates in them needs to take into account that he might get hurt, just as security forces do," a security source told Ynet.

The protesters in Naalin said IDF and Border Guard forces began firing dozens of teargas grenades at them before the protest even began. The Israeli security forces fired similar grenades at a house in an attempt take it over without a seizure order, the protesters said, claiming the tenants and other demonstrators suffered from teargas inhalation

The protesters also alleged that soldiers had fired a gas grenade into an ambulance, lightly injuring one of its crew members.  They also claimed the military was using snipers.
