Fatah conference bogged down over leadership votes

The ongoing convention of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement is bogged down in an argument over how to vote for new leaders.

The heated dispute has prolonged the gathering, which was to end Thursday but will go into the weekend.

It has split Fatah delegates from Fatah-controlled West Bank and those from Hamas-run Gaza. Most of the Gaza delegates have been blocked by rival Hamas from leaving the coastal strip to attend the

convention. (AP)
