Groundbreaking event for Camerata

Israeli composer Ori Leshman composed material from Haim Guri's 'An Oriental Fair' to create a total theatrical experience

Born in Israel in 1923, Haim Guri earned the title of ‘Israel’s Poet’. In 1975 he was awarded the Bialik Prize for Literature and in 1988 the Israel Prize for poetry.

 

Guri, a celebrated poet, novelist, journalist and filmmaker created a poem cycle named An Oriental Fair, based on his biography and the numerous experiences of growing up and living in Israel during the formative years of statehood.

 

Israeli composer Ori Leshman has edited material from the poem cycle and composed music for a total theatrical experience. The production includes costumes, sets and special video effects and includes five leading actors on stage with the Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem. An Oriental Fair will be conducted by Ori Leshman.

 

Ori Leshman is considered one of Israel’s most interesting and promising young conductors. He has conducted several orchestras in Israel and South Africa. He has also conducted opera in Italy and Israel.

 

This groundbreaking event will be featured around Israel at numerous venues:
