Student editors of a campus humor publication and the president of Reed College in Portland, Oregon, are apologizing for a fake article that said students at nearby Lewis & Clark College killed all the Jews on their campus.
The article, meant as a satire, appeared last week in The Pamphlette, a student-run newspaper at Reed College. It carried the headline "LC students kill Jewish people."
Anti-Semitism is a sensitive issue at Lewis & Clark, where swastika graffiti was found in the library bathroom a few weeks ago.
Reed President Colin Diver apologized to Lewis & Clark's interim president, Jane Atkinson, last week. An editor at The Pamphlette says its staff has repeatedly apologized for hurting or offending people with the article.
