Report: Shalit deal to be completed in coming days
Sources in the Gaza Strip estimated on Sunday that significant progress has been made over the past few days in the talks for a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas, and that the last obstacles for the deal would be removed by Friday, the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
Saudi network al-Arabia quoted Hamas sources as saying that the deal would be implemented on Friday, with the release of 450 prisoners "with blood on their hands" to the West Bank and Gaza in exchange for the transfer of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit to Egypt. (Ali Waked)
