Settlers, police clash in Talmon

Security forces disperse protestors blocking entrance to settlement; one woman detained

Settlers and security forces clashed Thursday in the West Bank community of Talmon over the implementation of the government's decision to halt settlement construction.

The settlers said two women were hurt while clashing with police officers; one woman was detained during the incident.

Dozens of residents, including women and children, blocked the entrance to Talmon and prevented security forces from entering. The residents also used their vehicles in order to prevent entry; police proceeded to hand out reports to vehicle owners and forcefully dispersed the protestors.

Residents said two women were beat up by police officers; one of them was detained, while the other was reportedly hurled to the ground and required medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Civil Administration officials said they have handed out construction freeze orders to more than 100 settlements so far. Earlier Thursday, Civil Administration inspectors arrived as the settlement of Kedumim, where they encountered more than 100 residents who blocked the entrance to the community.

Settlers also prevented officials from entering the settlement of Karnei Shomron.
