The security forces thwarted a terror attack last week on Road 443, leading from Jerusalem to Modiin, after uncovering an explosive device comprised of a gas balloon and fireworks between the West Bank town of Dir Nabala and the Jewish community of Givat Ze'ev.
The explosive charge, which was meant to target passing vehicles, was defused by Border Guard sappers without causing any injuries.
Israel Defense Forces soldiers who searched the area found a sketch detailing the way the terrorists sought to hurt passengers travelling on the road. The note read in Arabic, "The al-Aqsa Brigades – the Allah Abu Shreifa unit", and includes drawings of cars with a Star of David.
The sketch explained how to plant the device in order to target as many cars as possible.
An IDF official told Ynet, "There is a lot of motivation to carry out attacks against Israeli targets. The IDF is acting intensively to thwart these attacks and defend the State of Israel's citizens."
