IDF soldiers manning a checkpoint east of the West Bank town of Nablus on Sunday apprehended three Palestinian teens who were carrying three explosive devices, a knife and two screwdrivers.
Captain Eliran Avnaim, commander of the Kfir Brigade's Haruv Battalion, said the explosive devices and knife were confiscated and the teens were taken in for questioning.
"The metal detector beeped as one of the Palestinians passed through it. He was asked to pass through it again, and it beeped once more. One of the explosive devices was found inside his pants, and the rest were found during a search of his friends' belongings," said Captain Avnaim.
Sunday's incident was the fifth since the Haruv Battalion began manning the checkpoint a few weeks ago.
"A thousand people cross through this checkpoint everyday, so the soldiers must remain alert at all times in order to seize weapons and protect themselves," Captain Avnaim told Ynet.
Last week an IDF soldier was killed after being stabbed by a Palestinian while sitting in his jeep near the Tapuach Junction, located south of Nablus.
