Hanoch Bartov has been named winner of the 2010 Israel Prize for literature. Bartov (84), who was born in Petah Tikvah, is the author of "Everyone had six wings" and "Whose little boy are you?", among other books. His writing grapples with major junctures in the history of Israeli society.
"He accompanied the central processes that the country and its residents have undergone, while emphasizing Zionist deeds," the prize committee judges wrote. (Merav Yudilovitch)
