Humiliation on streets of Hebron: The soldiers assaulted by Palestinians during
a jog in Hebron warned their commander that he was taking the wrong path, but he ignored them and led his troops into the heart of a Palestinian neighborhood, an initial IDF probe into the incident revealed.
The grave incident took place at a late evening hour, when a squad belonging to the Kfir Brigade embarked on a physical education training session in Hebron.
The troops were unarmed and were not wearing uniforms, and ended up being beaten up and humiliated by dozens of Palestinians after entering the Abu Sneina neighborhood.
During the incident, the Palestinians ordered the troops to take off their shoes and then beat them up and stoned them.
Initial reports said the troops were misdirected by a local resident, but the army's probe revealed that the commander was the one who made the mistake.
The probe also revealed that the troops were escorted by an armed soldier, who refrained from firing at the assailants or firing warning shots in the air. The army is expected to eventually adopt disciplinary measures against the commander and possibly against the armed soldier as well.
